Teaching from home, actually. It gets a little warm in the garage, but it’s the best sounding room in the house, and my wife can continue to make real money working on our big computer. The lines on the floor are for my son’s marching band routine. I’m going to finish off the perimeter so we can play four square in the garage.

What did you choose as your Zoom background?
Also curious if your teaching is going to now include practicing with a mask and/or sock on the bell?

4 square is fun but wonky square is even more fun, where each space is shaped differently for progressively more difficult spaces until you get to king.

The garage refrigerator and freezer, all the shit that’s stacked on top of them, the roll of paper towel hanging from the cabinet, etc.

Looks like you’re making the best of it! Our a/c is nearly due for an replacement and we’ve talked about replacing it with a ductless mini-split system so we have better control over the temperature in individual rooms and we can easily add a unit into the garage. It’s already insulated, so it’s just a matter of adding another split unit to heat and cool that space.

There wasn’t a shred of seriousness in either question.
Can’t believe that garage is going to be tolerable for long. It hit 70 here and the sun was out. I had to turn on the A/C and every fan in the house.

There is absolutely no sealing around the garage door, so any cool air pumped in there would be utterly wasted. I’m wondering if it’s possible to get a higher quality door that would still go up and down, but also seal better to keep air (and sound) inside.

An insulated garage d oor would go a long way toward keeping the cold air and the noise inside. Most replacement doors come with a trim kit for sealing around the edges, but you could also buy a kit from your local box store. They sell the vinyl flap style like what’s on my door or a brush style.
This style is about $10 per 9-ft strip. My two-car garage required four of them.
You can buy an insulation kit for your existing door for less than $100 or you can buy full replacement panels. I had to replace the entire panels when they were destroyed by the tornado. Fortunately, the mounting hardware was fine, so it was a matter of putting the new panels into position and screwing them onto the brackets. Easy work.
